Expansion of the Újhartyán Machining Plant
Commissioned by Draft 2000 Ltd., the expansion of the existing machining plant in Újhartyán resulted in a modern and functional facility, perfectly aligning with the structure and requirements of the existing building. During the expansion, special attention was given to structural stability and sustainability considerations.
The Concept of the Expansion
The expansion involved constructing a new building section measuring 18.35 meters in length and 15.20 meters in width, harmonizing in size and design with the original structure. A 7-meter-long covered open storage area was created between the two building sections, providing additional functionality.
The primary structural framework consists of two-hinged trussed steel frames stabilized by bracing wind frames and longitudinal ties. The steel frames are spaced 4.8 meters apart, ensuring the reliability and durability of the structure.
Key Structural Solutions
Roof Structure: The roof consists of 12 cm thick steel-reinforced sandwich panels supported by galvanized Z200 purlins.
Walls: The 10 cm thick sandwich panels are installed horizontally and directly attached to the columns.
Foundations: The columns are hinged to foundation pads using glued anchor bolts, while the plinth walls are made of cast-in-place reinforced concrete.
Materials and Standards
The design and construction of the building adhered to MSZ EN standards, using high-quality materials and methods. The steel structures were made of S235JR grade materials, and the insulated panels meet modern construction requirements.
Safety and Fire Protection
Fire safety considerations were included in the design process, even though no specific fire resistance requirements were mandated for the building. For corrosion protection, the structures were treated with a C3-category paint system in compliance with the ISO 12944 standard.
Sustainability and Reliability
The goal of the expansion project was not only to enhance functionality but also to improve the efficiency and sustainability of the existing facility. Thanks to meticulous planning and execution, the new building section seamlessly integrates with the existing structure while ensuring energy efficiency and long-term usability.
